Why I Hold The Belief I Hold? -Sydney Norris

Why I Hold The Belief I Hold
By: Sydney Norris
Some people are fortunate enough to have their mom and dad growing up. For me growing up I barely had my mom and my dad was my best friend and we did everything together. My parents argued everyday they were married because my mom never really cared to do anything besides lay in the bed. When I was twelve my parents decided to get a divorce. About the next three years after that day I didn’t know how hard life for me was going to be. Two weeks after my parents' divorce was final my mom lost her job and my dad already had a girlfriend. My mom started going into decline even more. It was hard watching my mom be depressed. Then me and my dad got robbed a couple months after and I had to go with my dad to move in with his girlfriend. Shortly after that I found out my mom was on drugs. In finding that out I went and told my dad. My mom wouldn’t stop taking drugs, so I took her to court at fourteen and my dad got full custody. That day was one of the hardest days of my life. Next thing I knew my mom moved to Ohio and left me and at the same time my dad transferred me to a different school. The whole time my mom was gone I cried every night for months.  My dad and now the lady that is my stepmom started taking me to church. I felt peace the more and more I went. I started falling in love with feeling the presence of God. My belief is in Jesus Christ and the holy spirit. My mom is now a recovered addict and a better mom than ever before. It was tough going through everything I went through, but I am thankful I did. It was because everything I went through with my mom; I have the great relationship I have with my savior.
